Johnny Layton's debut signature shoe, the J-Lay, is loaded with function and style. The concept was to upgrade the classic Vans vulcanized shoe and create a style with more progressive aesthetics influenced by Johnny. This slim profile shoe is lightweight and flexible, providing the classic Vans waffle grip with improved cushioning. Johnny handpicked retro colors, materials and an athletic styling to reflect a 60's and 70's rock feel.
This shoe is tested and perfected by Layton and the style is definitely influenced by Johnny. The J-Lay is designed with increased durability to hold up to all situations and breathability for comfort. The are lightweight and flexible to give improved board control with increased cushion. Incredible flexibility and grip. What more could you ask for?

This Spring, Vans is proud to introduce Johnny Layton's first ever signature shoe and apparel collection, which reflects Johnny's passion for 60's and 70's rock 'n' roll and vintage art found hanging in his house in the LBC.
Once Johnny turned pro for Toy Machine, we knew it was only a matter of time before he deserved to be turned pro on Vans. So Vans did, and did it for Footwear and Apparel.
The designers spent a lot of quality time with Johnny to really get a feel of what he is about and most of that time was spent on our 80 foot mini ramp in the back of the warehouse. The mini ramp has almost become his second home, because when he's not on the rad traveling or shooting with Acosta, you can find him ripping the mini with his posse.
